Cute N gauge model railway layout
A track plan on 3′ x 2′ that I realized some time ago. It’s a small layout, particularly suitable for beginners, too. I built it with Fleischmann N gauge tracks, but his track plan idea should also work for other N gauge manufacturers.
N gauge track layout: From the idea…

…to the finished N gauge layout:

What is it all about? A sleepy branch line somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the Bavarian Alps. We have an idyllic station with an extra track where trains can pass by. A goods shed and two sidings complete the station. A gravel works is some distance away.
Not far from the station, the railroad line crosses a romantic valley. In keeping with the scenery, the bridge is an old stone arch viaduct in radius R2. A small creek flows under the bridge, accompanied by a country road. The water of the creek is used for the nearby sawmill, but apparently canoeists also love the creek.
The tracks do not require a ramp on the approach to the bridge, as the ground is lowered at this point. All tracks are on one level. This N gauge model railway layout is therefore very easy to build. I actually finished it within 14 days.
Worth mentioning: Although this N gauge layout has a very compact size, it does not require tight R1 curves. Radius R2 is sufficient. There is even a wide R4 radius at the front of the layout, which is particularly pleasing to the eye.
A backdrop makes the illusion perfect. An indispensable element on every model railroad layout.
